Certified Reseller Partner Acumen Introducing New Particle Counter Solution to Market

Sonicu, a leader in remote wireless monitoring systems, today unveiled a new particle counter monitoring solution designed specifically for cleanroom environments.

The solution leverages a trusted third-party sensor as well as deep domain expertise from partner Acumen Technologies in the cleanroom space to apply the SoniCloud application to this pressing challenge for cleanroom operators.

“Our ability to leverage the adapters to pull data from trusted and reliable particle counters, and share that data both in real-time and historically, delivers immediate benefit to cleanroom operations faced with strict compliance requirements,” said Joe Mundell, Chief Revenue Officer, Sonicu.

Like all Sonicu’s monitoring applications, the new particle monitoring solution will be wireless, feature remote access via the web or mobile app, and can layer data across other Sonicu cleanroom applications like room-condition monitoring, which includes ambient temperature and humidity monitoring as well as air pressure differential monitoring.

“Our new particle counter solution addresses a critical need within the cleanroom industry,” Mundell said.

“This technology builds on our legacy of innovation in the cleanroom industry, including our SoniShield View communicating meter with a real-time display that includes ambient conditions and in-room differential pressure.”

This innovative system empowers cleanroom managers to safeguard sensitive assets and materials by providing real-time, comprehensive air quality data.

It builds upon Sonicu's significant experience serving hundreds of sensitive environments from hospital-based compounding pharmacies to research facilities in some of the nation’s leading universities and private laboratories.

The particle monitoring system is capable of monitoring 0.3µm - 25.0µm particles with a flow rate of 0.1CFM (2.83 LPM) with its internal pump.

There is an option for monitoring 0.5µm - 25µm particles with a flow rate of 1.0CFM (28.3 LPM) with an external vacuum system.

The wireless solution offers faster and more affordable deployment and a cleaner, safer cleanroom environment.

Sonicu’s current suite of monitoring solutions is an industry leader with its simple and affordable hardware coupled with SoniCloud, the intuitive software that allows researchers, pharmacists, facility managers, and compliance professionals to access alerts and reports from anywhere with a connected device.

Acumen, a North American leader in technology solutions for the cleanroom industry, will be assisting Sonicu in introducing the cleanroom particle counter to the market.

“We’re excited for this opportunity because we know the market is hungry for a wireless solution as well as user-friendly software like SoniCloud,” said Darik Nelson, President, of Acumen Technology.

“We know this particle counter technology will deliver improved performance for our customers,  and we are excited to work with Sonicu to introduce this product.”

The Sonicu particle counter monitoring solution is available for immediate purchase.

Cleanrooms require particle counters primarily to ensure and maintain the cleanliness levels necessary for their intended operations.

Here’s why particle counters are essential and how they contribute to safety and compliance:

  1. Monitoring Cleanliness Levels: Clean rooms must adhere to specific cleanliness standards defined by particle count limits. Particle counters continuously monitor the concentration of airborne particles of various sizes within the cleanroom environment. This real-time monitoring allows facility managers and compliance professionals to ensure that the cleanroom meets the required cleanliness classification (e.g., ISO Class 5, Class 7) at all times.
  2. Early Detection of Contamination: Particle counters detect even minute changes in particle levels that could indicate contamination. Early detection is crucial because it allows prompt investigation and corrective actions to prevent contamination from spreading or escalating. This proactive approach helps to maintain product quality and integrity, especially in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, research, and electronics manufacturing.
  3. Ensuring Compliance: Regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, CLEA) require cleanrooms to comply with stringent cleanliness standards to ensure product safety and consistency. Particle counters provide documented evidence of adherence to these standards through regular monitoring and reporting of particle counts. This documentation is essential during audits and inspections to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Improving Safety: Cleanrooms are often used for the manufacturing or handling of sensitive materials, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and microelectronics. Contamination in these environments can compromise product quality and safety, leading to potential health risks for end-users or consumers. By maintaining strict cleanliness levels with the help of particle counters, clean rooms contribute to ensuring the safety and efficacy of the products manufactured within them.
  5. Optimizing Operational Efficiency: Continuous monitoring with particle counters allows for proactive maintenance and adjustments to HVAC systems, filtration systems, and cleanroom protocols. This optimization helps to ensure that cleanroom operations remain efficient and effective in controlling contamination risks.

Particle counters are critical tools in sensitive environments as they provide essential data for

  • maintaining cleanliness levels
  • detecting contamination early
  • ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • enhancing product safety
  • optimizing operational efficiency

Their use significantly contributes to the overall reliability and effectiveness of cleanroom operations across various industries.
